The sword of the Spirit is the word of God. And today, this powerful passage of scripture captured my imagination:
"Then Jesus was led by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil. And after he had fasted forty days and forty nights..."
Today is Ash Wednesday, the first day of Lent which is a traditional, forty day celebration ending at midnight on Holy Thursday and followed by Good Friday and Easter Sunday.
Lent alludes to the forty days that Christ fasted in the wilderness in preparation for his public ministry. In the same way, we prepare ourselves to celebrate and proclaim Christ’s crucifixion for our sins and His resurrection from the dead.
